It worked. I'm back to being blogalicious.
What didn't work so well was my motherly sixth sense last night. Early in my momming career if anything was wrong with one of the kids I would magically be awake a minute in advance - alert and able to proactively respond to any midnight crisis. With Corey this typically translated into rouge late night barfing. However yasterday we passed through an impprtant parent/child milestone & I clearly underestimated the impact.
The milestone was me giving him permission to go to the mall with a friend - a friend who was driving ...in her own car...on the highway. It was during the day, and the friend is a senior with a license broken in with at least 12 months of behind the wheel experience. However it was a big enough deal for me to sort of 'hide it' from Steve. Since he thinks blogging is a bit ridiculous I am not to worried about him discoving this small ommission on the internet - if I had fax-blasted this info ot would be a differnet story - but more on that later.
Anyways, the ramifications of passing thru this important right of passage became very clear last night.
Corey went down in the rec romm @ about 9pm to talk on the phone and do laundry. I crashed out @ 10:30. Frustrated with the husband snoring in the chair I turned off all the lights and went to bed. Unforunately responsible Dad woke up soon after, locked the door and went to bed.
We woke up this morning to find Corey's bed empty -- and about 10 missed calls on each of our cell phones. Apparently he tried ringing the door bell, throwing rocks at my window, calling incessently - nothing made us budge. He spent a not so comfortable evening sleeping in the laundry room, learned an important lesson about always carrying his key and I garenteed myself solid nights of sleep for the rest of his teenage career. Ha - now that's a funny thought!
Thanks.
